
Originally derived from the granting of a boon by a Pir, or holy sage, in response to a fervent prayer for the birth of a boy child many years ago in the village of Jhunjhunu in the state of Rajasthan, the name ‘Piramal’ has its roots in folklore and ritual. The word ‘Amal’ means pure.
The Piramal community is the wider social group sharing the same environment, interests, goals and a common identity. It includes employees, their families, shareholders, partners, stakeholders, customers, suppliers and members of society.
The word community comes from the Latin word ‘com’, which means together and the word ‘munis’, which has to do with performing services. A community is a cohesive unit because it has a ‘unity of will. The sense of connectedness and formation of social networks focused towards a common goal i.e. ekagrata comprise The Piramal Group’s social capital.
A deeply entrenched work ethic and value system constantly encourage us to innovate and excel in the global landscape. A community that cares to make a difference, that believes we shall learn until we know and where limits don’t exist when there’s a need to act.
